EPIGRAM

The epigram is a brief, witty statement in prose or verse, similar to an aphorism. The examples here are all in verse.

Life's saving graces are love, pleasure, laughter.
(Wisdom, it seems, is for the hereafter.)

                        Michael R. Burch

Men seldom make passes
at girls who wear glasses.

                        Dorothy Parker

Candy
is dandy,
but liquor
is quicker.

                        Ogden Nash
